The Ravenstein Seminar is an annual two-day congress for PhD and Research Master Students and it provides an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas on recent developments in Literary Studies. At the Seminar, both young, talented researchers and established, more experienced researchers, present their ongoing projects within a contemporary theme.

Ravenstein 2014 takes place on the 6th and 7th of February in Amsterdam. The theme of this edition is ‘Materiality of Literature‘. With this theme Ravenstein 2014 places literature within a broader media field and emerging debates on the materiality of culture by focussing on this central question: how can and should literature and its effects be studied in a changing media landscape?

Speakers of Ravenstein 2014 are Jan Baetens (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven), Kiene Brillenburg Wurth (Universiteit Utrecht), Yra van Dijk (Universiteit Leiden), Joyce Goggin (Universiteit van Amsterdam), Jan Hein Hoogstad(Universiteit van Amsterdam), Simon Morris (Teesside University, UK), Liedeke Plate (Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen) and Jan Rock (Universiteit van Amsterdam).
