The symposium ‘Medieval Urban Literacy: Comparative Approaches’ will be held in Utrecht on april 10. Contributors of the NWO project on Medieval Urban Literacy will discuss the results of the international project The publication of Writing and the Administration of Medieval Towns and Uses of the Written Word in Medieval Towns.

Together with New Approaches to Medieval Urban Literacy, edited by Georges Declercq et al., this symposium marks the end of an NWO project on Medieval Urban Literacy. During the symposium, some of the contributors to the three volumes mentioned will reflect on the issues that have come to the fore.
